Inforpress Group was pleased to take on the organization and communication of the first Biodiversity flashmob in Portugal on 27th November. The flashmob was designed to raise awareness of the problem of the potential extinction of certain species on our planet. The project is driven by the European Commission during the International Year of Biodiversity.
A flashmob, a brief unusual event organized in a public place, which occurs suddenly then disperses quickly, took place in the Colombo Shopping Centre in Lisbon (Portugal). Twelve actors dressed as police officers burst into the hall of the Lusomundo cinemas armed with sirens and megaphones to attract the attention of passersby in the mall. Behind a messaged cordon that marked the perimeter of the action, the actors fired off several warning messages about biodiversity, and drew outlines of some endangered species on the floor. A teaser video was shown at the end of the event. Around 1,000 people in the mall received the biodiversity message.
The Lisbon event was one of four held in Europe all of which were complimented by the distribution of information on Biodiversity. As well as Lisbon, flashmobs took place in Hungary, Slovenia and Romania who also support the initiative.
